Lyrical Laughs

Lyrical Laughs

Sometimes I need to shake things up, so I resort to one of the most fun writing practices I've ever done - changing the lyrics to a well-known song. Today I've come up with my own take on "I Want a New Drug" by Huey Lewis.

Here's a reminder of what the song is "supposed" to sound like. My version is a little more personal...

I want a new bra, one that won’t make me bulge
One that keeps me from shooting too high
One that keeps me from swinging too low
I want a new bra, one that won’t bust a wire
One with cups that don't fluff like foam
One with straps that don’t burn like fire

One that won’t make me nervous
Wonderin’ what to wear
One that makes it look like I have the perfect pair
Oh, the perfect pair.

I want a new bra, with a good price
One that won’t pucker under arms
Or fit like a vice
I want a new bra, comfortable please
One that won’t make me start to sweat
One that won’t show a cool breeze

One that won’t make me nervous
Wonderin’ what to wear
One that makes it look like I have the perfect pair
Oh, the perfect pair.

I want a new bra, one that does what it should
One that won’t make my clothes look bad
One that will make the girls look good
I want a new bra, one that won’t slide away
One that won’t make me hunch at work
One that won’t make me tug all day

One that won’t make me nervous
Wonderin’ what to wear
One that makes it look like I have the perfect pair
Oh, the perfect pair.

Which version will you be singing tomorrow?
